9091 Water Kettle, 200 cl

Before this kettle, a whistling kettle just whistled. Richard Sapper wanted his to sing.

The 9091 was Alessi's first "design kettle," built around a brass whistle mechanism with two small vents tuned to the notes mi and si, producing a two-tone melody instead of a single shrill note. Sapper based the idea on a childhood memory of boat sirens on the Rhine — a sound meant to be pleasant rather than alarming, arriving at the moment your water is ready.

The body is 18/10 stainless steel with a magnetic steel bottom suitable for induction cooktops, and a black PA handle for a cool, secure grip.
