Pépé le Moko, Salt grinder

A salt mill with the pared-back, almost archetypal look that defines Jasper Morrison's work.

Part of the Pépé le Moko series for Alessi, the grinder is designed by Jasper Morrison in his characteristic quiet, functional style. The white body is turned in polyamide with a regulation knob in stainless steel, its simple silhouette hinting at the long lineage of everyday objects it draws from. Standing 12 cm tall on a 7 cm base, it is sized for the table rather than the store cupboard.

Understated by design, it is meant to sit comfortably alongside food rather than compete with it.
