Fruit Basket Teapot

A teapot built like a woven basket, open to the light.

Fruit Basket is the tea and coffee service designed by SANAA, the Japanese studio of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, for Alessi. The teapot's distinctive openwork lattice gives the line its name and its lightness. It is made in 18/10 stainless steel.

The service began life in the Tea & Coffee Towers project, Alessi's invitation to a group of leading architects, before entering wider production. Part serving piece, part conversation piece, it rewards a collector as much as a tea drinker.
