Kaleidos Coloured Steel Basket with Epoxy Resin, White

Invited to work on the theme of cut and bent Stainless Steel sheet, a production process characteristic of Alessi's business, Naoko Shintani designed the "Kaleidos" Basket.
The author was inspired by the Japanese tradition of origami (ori = folding, gami = paper) with the desire to translate the movement of folded paper into metal. A seemingly simple object that requires a complex production process to recreate the lightness of paper and achieve the desired Forma.
Obtained by laser cutting the Stainless Steel sheet, the Basket requires numerous delicate mechanical operations to define the folds of the six segments that compose it. The result is an object that, as its name suggests, resembles a kaleidoscope that reflects and multiplies its contents in an endless game of cross-references.
Its small size makes it suitable for use as a Basket, Fruitbowl or generic holder.
