Nomu, Vacuum Flask

"Nomu" — to drink — becomes an object worth pausing for.

Naoto Fukasawa's 2017 design for Alessi reduces the vacuum flask to its essentials: a double-walled body in mirror-finished 18/10 stainless steel, wrapped with a thermoplastic resin sleeve, holding heat or cold with equanimity.

The push-style spout releases the drink into its own lid, which lifts free to become a cup — one object performing two roles, sized for a desk, a car cupholder, or a compact travel bag.

Minimal in profile and quiet in construction, it moves as easily from a commute to a boardroom table as it does from a kitchen counter — a considered, everyday object built to be used, not just displayed.
