Pito Kettle, 1.9 qt

A kettle that sings like a whale.

Pito is a kettle designed by Frank Gehry, and it bears his sculptural hand: the melodic top and the mahogany handle take the stylised form of two darting fish, and the whistle it produces is unusually low and song-like, closer to a whale's call than the usual shrill note. Gehry turned an everyday utensil into something poetic.

Made in mirror-polished 18/10 stainless steel with the whistle and cap in mahogany, it holds 1.8 litres. First produced in 1992, it remains as much an object to display as one to use.
