Round Wire Design Basket, 20cm

The 826 basket began Alessi's exploration of folded wire as a material in its own right — the first result, in 1948, of technical research carried out by the company's own design office.

It's a simple construction: 18/10 stainless steel wire bent and joined into a round, open form, polished on both faces. The design proved durable enough to spawn an oval version in 1955 and a square one in 1966, but the round original — this one — is where the idea started.

Hand wash is recommended; prolonged exposure to moisture should be avoided.
